UNDP - Equator Prize 2019
The UNDP’s Equator Initiative provides opportunities for indigenous peoples and local communities around the world to address the challenges of land degradation, biodiversity conservation and livelihood improvement in a socially equitable manner. The Equator Prize is their biennial awards programme that recognises innovative initiatives and exceptional achievements in the area of nature-based solutions for local sustainable development.
For their 2019 awards ceremony they needed to created short video profiles for each of their 22 winners. They had a very limited budget, a stringent procurement procedure, and wanted to source local filmmakers in each location - from the depths of the Amazon rainforest and Peruvian jungles, to the island nations of Micronesia and Vanuatu, to name a few. This project offered a worthwhile challenge that delivered wonderful results.
Working as the Senior Producer and Project Manager, assisted by Lucy Sherriff as crewing manager, we sourced small crews to successfully handle 3-5 days shoots in some of the most remote locations in the world. We coordinated their equipment, insurance, built shot lists, facilitated accommodation and travel, and ensured success. All deliverables were received on time and, through great creativity, the budget was adhered to!
