Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest philanthropic organisation in the world and is committed to the eradication of malaria and polio, and controlling the spread of tuberculosis and HIV, amongst other things. They fund research and provide grants and investments that support this mission.
Much of the content that the Gates Foundation creates is to serve their audience of stakeholders, grantees, and supporters. But they also recognise the value of engaging with a broader audience. With this in mind, they decided to create a mini-series that tells the stories of humanity’s relationship with prolific diseases.
Bringing Sick History to life meant finding a dedicated Senior Producer, storyboarding, creating graphics, writing scripts, coordinating production, and fielding numerous rounds of editing. Working with a large NGO often means finding a balance between creative and compliance. Through a considerate and nuanced approach, the delivered end result has formed the framework for a scalable mini-series for the foundation’s future social media content.
